We are one of the leading full-service Chinese law firms in the People’s Republic of China . As the only national law firm headquartered in Shanghai, we provide a comprehensive range of high quality legal services to both domestic and international clients from our two offices in Shanghai and our offices in Beijing, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Shenzhen, and Suzhou.

While size is only one of many indicators of the success and resourcefulness of a law firm, we certainly lead in this respect among our peers in Shanghai. We are – and we have remained since the creation of our firm via a merger of three law firms with common vision – the largest law firm based in Shanghai (and in the whole Eastern China region).

Asia Legal Business (ALB) has granted us many awards in its annual China Law Award events, where we are frequent finalists in all major award categories. In recent years we have won multiple ALB China awards, including the general China Law Firm of the year and Shanghai Law Firm of the Year recognitions. more specific practice of the year awards in all of our major practice areas, and exceptional recognitions such as the Managing Partner of the Year and Employer of Choice awards in certain years.

Chambers and Partners has recently granted us an award for being a leading Chinese law firm for three consecutive years.

Our Professionals

We have approximately 400 registered lawyers (including approximately 80 partners and senior consultants). Aside from our regular working language of Chinese (Mandarin and major dialects), many of our lawyers are also fluent in English, Japanese, French, German, and other major languages, and many are also admitted in international jurisdictions. Our partners and senior consultants came to the firm from diverse professional and personal backgrounds. Many transactional lawyers have practiced for years in top international law firms and/or in leading multinational companies. A number of our litigators once were judges and prosecutors, and many are active arbitrators. We also have access to a strong network of former government officials and legislators. Supported by a large team of translators and legal assistants, our professionals have undertaken many complex and high profile transactions, and have won many landmark cases.

Our practitioners possess a wealth of first-hand experience and legal expertise in providing effective solutions to the most complex of legal issues regarding the application of laws and regulations, governmental approval and legal procedures.

Aside from our traditional strength of servicing large domestic Chinese powerhouses such as large private or public domestic companies and central and local State owned enterprises, we also have international clients that come to us from all over the world. We regularly provide legal services to Fortune 500 companies and other multinational companies, foreign invested enterprises incorporated in China, and international and local financial institutions and investment funds.

Our National & Global Reach

We provide comprehensive geographical coverage of the PRC through our seven offices in China. To further perfect our national coverage in addition to our strength in the Eastern China region, Beijing and Shenzhen, we formed, together with a number of other leading legal practices in China, the Sino-Global Legal Alliance - the first international legal referral network in the Mainland consisting of fourteen law firms - with a direct geographic coverage of more than a dozen additional cities in the PRC.

Globally, we have aligned ourselves with the international law firm alliance “Terralex” through which we are currently associated with over 145 law firms in the world. Aside from Terralex we also regularly work with firms in other jurisdictions on ad hoc bases to coordinate transactions or dispute resolution proceedings, and we have sponsored and trained many international lawyers that eventually return to their home countries as China practitioners.
